Anawangin Adventure

Few years back, I went to Anawangin with friends for a summer adventure. Anawangin Cove is located in the province of Zambales, facing South China Sea. It can be reached via half an hour boat ride from San Antonio, Zambalez or via a four to six hours trek of Mt. Pundaquit.

It was mid-summer so I think the weather was not ideal for trekking. There was not much cloud and all the supposedly river were parched. Better be prepared and bring sufficient potable water on your way to Anawangin.

Believe it or not, this is our legendary lead tour guide. He was bare footed and never looked tired the whole trek. According to him, he's 100+ years old but we were never able to confirm if this was true.

Apparently, pine trees did not exist in Anawangin before the Mt. Pinatubo eruption. Looks like the ash fall somehow caused these pine trees to grow in the forest.

This is a breath-taking view from the top of Mt. Pundaquit, halfway through the 6-hour trek to Anawangin Cove.

It was a looong, tiring and hot trek, but it was all worth the amazing experience. :)

Chinese New Year at Mall of Asia

I've only noticed it recently... I think SM MOA has been making themed decorations every season now.  Early last month they put up cute Chinese New Year stuff at the atrium.

They have several of these faux cherry blossom trees.

I didn't know there were cherry blossoms in China, I had to google it to find out. It turns out the cherry blossoms symbolizes women's strength, think: Mulan.

Some of the trees had lanterns hung on them.

The one with painting of a face is my favorite.

In China, status and gender was associated to specific types of fans. Only I don't know to which these fans are associated with.

The chinese seem to be big on status symbol. Another evidence of this is the chinese lantern. The covering used to provide protection for the flame. Eventually the way the lanterns were designed became a mark of identification. A particular design can be identified to a specific dynasty.

I wonder what they have in store for us this March.

Mango Flavor = Overripe na may pagka-maasim na mangga flavor.
Hindi ko masyado type.

Kyot ng takip.
Meron ding grape and lychee.

Saturdate: Lugang Cafe MOA

Every time we pass by Lugang Cafe, dun lang namin naaalala na matagal na naming plano kumain dito.

Lugang Cafe Lighting Fixtures

After kuhain nung waiter yung order namin, nagulat ako nung iniwan nya ito:

Salt and pepper squid na not-so salty.

Kung kakainin sya with rice, parang matabang.

Lugang Cafe Wanton Soup
